Mother is mother. She loves us even when we are wrong and she is always there beside us when we are in trouble. She does all she can to make us happy. So to make mom happy sometimes isn't a bad idea at all. Buy her something she likes along with your beautiful words in a card or stuff like that and that would definitely be an acknowledgement for everything she has done for you until now. She deserves this.

You don't. Your mom has to find things within herself that make her happy.
With my kids, I'm happy when they're safe, happy themselves, and doing well in school. About school, I'm not obsessing about straight A's, but I want to know that they're doing their best and *not* doing things that land them in detention. If I was your mom, I'd be proud of you if what you were doing would lead you to a good/happy/content life for yourself.
I don't know details about your mom, but if she's deeply depressed, she made need a doctor's medical help. If she's just never satisfied with anything, then that's a choice she's made and you'll just have to live your life doing what's best for you and letting go of trying to win your mom's happiness or approval. Or, finally, if she's just having a bummer day, take her to lunch and splurge on dessert or a movie. Hugs work wonders too. Best wishes, Hon!

Most moms are proud of their sons/daughters for anything good they do.
You can donate to charities, spend a couple of hours a week, if possible, volunteering somewhere, like a preschool or elementary school.
Most of all, be who you are and be the loving person moms expect you to be. As long as being that is who YOU are, not who your mom wants you to be.
Something a lot of moms love is spending time with them for no special occasion, you know, just because. Drop by randomly with flowers in your hand, or an offer to help her clean out the basemen or attic. Make sure she knows you appreciate all she's done for you, and all the love she's given you.

Your mom is feeling down? Is she OK? When my son comes up to me and gives me a big hug for no reason that really makes me feel good. Also, if they clean up around the house without being asked, that always makes me happy too. Tell her what a good mom she is, tell her Thank You for little things she does. Hope you're alright!

bake her a cake, do some bonding stuff, go to the mall together, help cook dinner, clean the bathroom, wash the dishes, wash her car, water the garden and pick the weeds, give her a hug, make her a card, just spend time with her really, thats what i do, it really depends how old you are to, and what is the reason you want to make her happy, do you feel she is dissapointed or is she just depressed?
