The health inspectors would shut the place down, and if the problem wasn't corrected, fine the owners. BUT it's not illegal and no one would be imprisoned! Kind of yucky though!

I guess it depends on what country/state you're talking about, but common sense says absolutely not!

Food handling + inadequate sanitary controls = a lawsuit waiting to happen! You can't handle raw meat, wipe your hands with a wet-nap or towel and then proceed to handle raw vegetables or fruit! You need RUNNING fresh water to wash away bacteria, germs, and actual food material from hands and surfaces. Disinfectant can only do so much, but without washing to remove the bioburden (the actual food material) from hands and surfaces, you provide a breeding ground just waiting for re-contamination.

How in hell did the establishment ever obtain an operating license?

We have all seen the hot dog carts, etc., and it seems they are fine. If you are talking about a building, I do not believe that is permissible.

EWWWWWWWWWWWW....... i would certainly hope it is illegal. I would NEVER go there, if i knew where it was. you should call the health dept.
