Here's a book you may want to check out, Making a Living Without a Job by Barbara Winter. She talks a lot about how when you find something that you love and are passionate about then it doesn't feel like work. I worked for 3 years in the industry I got my degree and hated it. I am now going back to school for a career in something I think that I will really enjoy (in the book she talks a lot about self employment but for me, I need to go back to school to do what I really want to do but I still got a lot of good insights from the book). You may want to think about the things you love doing and what you want in a job (environment, flexibility, option to work from home, etc) and see if you can't find a job you will enjoy more. Sometimes though, right out of college, you have to work for awhile at a job you don't like to get to the one you will. But it can also depend a lot on whether you like the people you work with, even if you like what you do, working with difficult people can make you dread going to work. You may want to evaluate what you do like and what you don't so you find something that is a better fit for you.

I taught piano lessons for seven years and loved it. It was something I was very involved in. I felt like I was giving back, and honestly I loved the stories everyone would come in and tell me about their week. Yes, I am a people person.

I recently worked at Wal-Mart for a while. It was a stable income. The hours were decent enough, the co-workers were great. And really even the customers never gave me grief.

In the end I got sick and had to quit. But leading up to that day I was starting to hate my job. The people were still great. But I knew the job wasn't going to take me anywhere. I didn't feel it was very rewarding. And obviously it wasn't a life goal or something that was of any REAL interest to me.

Remember: You obviously need a job to get by. But you don't have to settle. Don't have the mind set that you started this job and you have to stick with it. Know that your options are always open. Its a huge world and there are plenty of other places out there that would love to have you working for them. Don't sell yourself short. You may need the money but if you can keep from it don't make yourself miserable just to pay the bills.

I love teaching but a while ago I had a teaching experience that thought me a lesson. I came home and cried every night. I hated going to work so I went to work late every day. I had other good , even great teaching experiences before that but this was the job that had me second guessing my vocation. I left my job and discovered I was depressed working there. I found another job soon after. To be honest someone called me the day I quit! Not that life is aways so easy, but keep your options open. Keep looking while you there. It could be your vocation, your position or just your job. Make of list of reasons why you entered the field. Were they realistic? make a list of why you are not happy at this job...is it the work load....your boss...the hours...or do you just dislike what you are doing?
There is something very wrong if you hate going to work...and if you stay there it could affect your life in a lot of ways. I had a series of bad relationships with men who hated their jobs and felt bitter about it... they felt stuck and thought they had to do that job just to make a living. Im not with them now because its their problem not mine. Why should I take their crankiness and whining if they wont d something about it? If Im not happy I'd find something better. I like to think of jobs like relationships. ;)

If you went to college for this job then you made a bad choice. Life is so much easier when you get up every morning and think I get to go make money for doing something I love. Isn't that why you chose the profession in college that you chose? If it isn't then you made a mistake in my opinion.

I like my job! They call my job at work the 'Golden Job' because I work until my inbox is empty and then leave!

I played 'secratery' since I was a little girl, I love organizing, helping and archiving.

It's the best of both worlds!

I like to work . I did the whole loser thing for a while ( liberal ) . Hehehe that was a joke.
ANYHOO , where was I ? OH YES ! I like working . not just because it affords my living , but it gives me a purpose and alot of self worth. I feel balanced when Im working and that kind of peace of mind is worth a days hard work.
