if someone is asking a question for ironic or comedic purposes, and you don't get it- doesn't that kind of make YOU an idiot?

It depends on how well the question is written. If it is well written then many people will be able to tell that it is sarcastic. But generally, sarcasm gets lost in translation in written text, lacking the body language and voice inflection that usually goes with it.

Written comments are very hard to get across as comedic - especially when they are sarcastic or ironic.
And many people are immune to irony in any case, and think that they are supposed to answer the question.
Generally, when posting a question, it is better to post only those to which you expect an answer, rather than a comment.

It's hard to tell in a written manner whether someone is being fecetious or an idiot. It depends on how you imagine the tone.

because most of the ones trolling here in Y!Answers are teenagers. and if not, teenagers, you have the lowly educated, non-college grad, blue-collar, hourly workers, who live from paycheck to paycheck and for dramatic conflicts in the affairs of the heart.
and we all know how broad their vocabulary is. 'idiot' i think is their number one favorite.

they just are jerks. hey , dont let it get to you ALOT of us ask , and love those questions to answer. You can get pretty famous around here for those kind of questions , and like any fame , there will ones that love you ane ones that hate you.
