We have had credit problems in the past and it is on the mend, but that takes awhile to get it back where it needs to be and we are really looking forward to this adoption adventure, but are having problems coming up with all of the money. It is going to cost $15,000.00. Does anyone have any help for us????

Ya know...you don't have to go to private adopting, there are hundreds of kids out there who need a home desperately! Try being a foster parent. We are and have adopted a baby and his older brother. Greatest thing we have ever done! So rewarding and it does not financially drain you. ( even after adopting there is adoption assistance for medical bills, clothes, etc.) But that is NOT why we adopted, we love our kids with all of our hearts! Look into it, ya never know who will steal your heart.

sorry this wont answer your question , but i wanted to put in my 2 cents .
i dont agree with adoption in a sense , but i do have a great deal of respect for those who opens their hearts up to children who need a loving caring home .
my fiance was adopted . it left him with a void and he never really seemed to know who he was . his adoptive parents were GREAT people . it took him until we found his real mom to realize how great his parents were while growing up .
when we had kids of our own our search bagan for his biological medical history , 3 years later we find her , and heart achs began . nothing he has done with his life was good enough , his mom hates me even though she dont know me , she hates our kids [ her grandkids] and belittles everything .
i would check into doing foster care for the state , i know you get some financial compensation for taking kids in , and maybe after doing this for a few years you may be able to pay some of your debts off and make it easier to be considered for full adoption .
i really wish you the best , i am not against adoption , it is a great thing , it is our family is still healing from an adoption wound 35 years old.
HUGS

Check with your church. We are Catholic and a few years ago our priest told us there was a couple in our parish who wanted to adopt but needed help with adoption cost.He started a baby fund and when collections were taken each week we also put envelopes marked "For the baby" in the collection to help the family adopt a baby girl. Within a 2 months the funds were raised and she was adopted. Good Luck!

my first question is, is it possible for you to have a child of your own? i wouldn't recommend infant adoption -- no way. the bond between mother and child is already there and you can't break it

adopting a child who has been carried by another mother, especially if it has her genes, is raising another mother's child. the birthbond is still there as the child has 9 months to bond with their natural mother before birth and not only that but the newborn can recognize their mother's voice, heartbeat, and scent *right at birth*! (http://www.birthpsychology.com/lifebefore/earlymem.html)

an adoptee friend of mine is getting re-adopted by her natural parents - she has an article on this site here: http://www.adoptingback.com/ -- she says that they are her real parents and will always be despite a 25 yr separation. another adoptee friend of mine, age 38, is getting her adoption annulled.

also, see what some adoptees are saying now they're speaking out about their experiences: http://www.originscanada.org/adoptees

i don't think that paying money to adopt a baby is worth it in the end. you'll be taking a real risk that you won't get what you paid for (a "child of your own"). adoption agencies will tell you that you will but they make big bucks selling this idea. $1.8 billion in profits every year - http://www.originscanada.org/infant.pdf.

Get a loan but if you have credit problems then I doubt anyone will give you a loan of that amount.

Your best bet is to fix your credit then think about adoption.

Why don't you adoption -foster through the state there are plenty of kids for adoption...And it;s free except for taking the classes...You have to take foster parent classes for adoption but you can just specify to adopt...That gives a kid a home who really needs one. You should check into it...
