Average age for a baby to sit unsupported is 5-9 months (see sources section below). So he's on the early side of normal.

Its right on time. Most babies can sit up around six months old. Don't worry too much about every milestone for your child. As long as they are eating properly, able to make eye contact and are doing new things regularly, the exact timing for each item can vary quite a bit. He will probably start to crawl sometime between now and 10 months and will start to walk sometime before he is 15 months old.

Congratualtions on being a mom. ok things differ in children especially babies, its good that he is sitting up on his own, some children do things faster than others for example, my oldest child didnt start walking until he was about 14 mths, but my daughter started walking a one yrs of age. so it differs with each and every baby, dont worry he fine and normal. and even some children start to walk before they crawl, its not set in stone that they are to crawl at 4 mths and sit up at 5 mths and they are supposed to be walking by 6 mths, thats the gift of being a mommie to figure things out about your child just as they are figuring things out about a new place and a new world in which they were brought into. Hope this helps, but i understand what you are going through.

you sound sooo stressed!
unless he is WAY PAST normal age for doing something I wouldn't even worry. He may be first in doing some things and last in doing others. Try not to compare him too much with others. And remember that if you are nearvous so will he!
RELAX AND ENJOY HIM!
An maybe make a list of q's to ask the doc if you are really concerned about somethings.

all babies are different in when they will do a certain thing. My first born didn't walk until well after 2 years of age, my last child walked at 8 months. As long as your babies' doctor says everything is fine, don't worry and just enjoy your baby while you can.

Yes, it is quite normal for babies to be sitting up that early. A lot of babies tend to be advanced in a lot of different areas. You sons motor skills might be ahead of the average baby.

My kids sat up at 6 months. I'd say your baby is right on time, maybe a little ahead, which isn't a bad thing.

Some babies do things at different times and ages. My som was walking at 8 months and cut his 1st tooth at 4 months. Some don't walk til they are at least 1 year old or older. enjoy your baby and marvel at every accomplishment!!!

that is fine progress. I used to take care of a 6 1/2 month old who was standing up to furniture, and at 7 months she was walking, count your blessings he isn't that quick, she was tough to keep up with..
