I started doing this and find it works really good but its funny. Take a picture of what you want or something very similar and put it on the fridge. Tell him you really like it so you want to look at it all the time and that one day you hope you will be able to get it. That way when he goes to get another beer he has to look at it! If you really really want it then you put pictures of it everywhere, in his closet, the cubbards etc... My husband thinks its funny but it works.

Vicki's Mom, I've often wondered what the value was in telling someone exactly what you want for your birthday. I mean I have been told I give really good gifts so I am not looking for excuses to give stupid gifts.
There is no surprise or thought involved with getting a gift that is on a list. This is what we did for Christmas when we were young.
I happen to like the surprise. If it isn't good then I think the person really doesn't know you, they are lazy, or cheap. I don't want a gift card or money and I sure don't want to have to give you a list. But that's me, I guess.
I think you should try to appreciate what he does get really. Buy yourself exactly what you want. Perhaps he will see what you're doing and realize to get exactly what you ask for.
I was not trying to sound harsh but best wishes to you.

Just be honest and straightforward with him. Make a list of the top 5 things you want for your b-day. Give him the list and tell him that you want 1 of those 5 things. Then you know you will be getting something really great and it will also take the stress off of him because he will have choices of what to get you.

Stop dropping hints and just tell him what it is you want! Men are not mind readers, and oh they are so bad sometimes when it comes to gift giving! Have a Blessed day

When you find out let me know.
The only time a guy ever puts any effort in buying a gift is when he first meets you and is trying to impress you. This tells me men are capable to buying an appropriate gift. So therefore it must follow...after they have you hooked, they don't care enough to put as much effort into their choice anymore.

They can't read our minds, hon. Make a little list and give it to him. Hints don't work and if we're not clear about what we want, we set them up to fail. (They don't get what we want and we then get upset with them.)
I am a grandma-aged person and it took me a lot of years to understand this. Best wishes!

Tell him straight what you want.
GUYS NEVER GET HINTS, no matter how hard you try. So just be straightforward!
If you are shy about telling him yourself, get your best buddy to do it.
Good luck!
