You might be thinking of "The Box" which went off the air 4 years ago. Many of their affiliates now carry MTV2 so your cable company might have to carry that station even if their isn't a demand for it.

Holy crap, I think I remember that! It was something based out of Buffalo, right? Or maybe it was just something in New York... either way it was American so we could never call in.
