Take a small part of it and run it under cold water. If it start to run it will run every time you wash it. Running it under cold water is how you tell.

Shout (the stain remover) makes a great product called "Color Catcher". (You'll find it on the laundry aisle near the stain removing products.) They look just like dryer sheets. If you have any doubts at all, just throw one of these sheets in with the wash. They trap the excess dyes in the wash water and prevent transfer to your other clothes.

hi Venkat,
Always use cold water on all your clothes except your undies (put them in hot,but only put whites in that load with some bleach.) Colored boxers like you get at Gap/Old navy put in cold water with Clorox II. Also with all your other dark clothes (except white shirts,polos-use ordinary bleach like your undies)
use CloroxII . Also Spray n'Wash has a pink bottle with a preppy green lid cleaner and it works awesome on just stains and with CloroxII in your washer
In the dryer, buy Cling Free Sheets so your clothes are soft and no static clean. We hate scents of any washing machine soaps so if you feel the same way get Tide Free, Whisk Free. or Era Free. Cling free sheets are available in unscented also. The spray and wash and clorox II do not smell bad. ( Free products are also hypo-allergenic and your skin will not itch.....Wash fine washables like silk in cold water with Woolite and hang up. ( idry our clothes on Low and hang to dry for shrinkage and it is better for the material....Did you know you can buy aproduct in the laundry detergent aisle that does your dry-cleaning for you(read the instructions thoroughly because ,i messed up the
first time) washing machine. it works great and it is cheaper than a trip to the dry cleaner. Good-luck!If....you have any questions please send me a message.P.S. In regards toyour biggest concern, buy some Bleed Sheets and put them in the washer with each load, the excess colr willgo on these
white sheets in stead of on all of your clothes(if..its a big load use 2)

Alot of dark or bright colored clothing releases a little dye the first time you wash them. Wash them separate from light colors, and use cold water. I also recommend either Woolite Dark, or Cheer for dark colors, both of those help your clothes stay dark and new-looking. Good luck...

Wash and soak it in the tub and hang to dry. Or the Laundromat. Give your new pants a run by themselves while you wash your other clothes. Unless you don't mind washing them with your tighty whities and making them turn the same color as your new pants....
