The Oxford Unabridges English Dictionary, Library Edition. It was attached permanently to a podium. Thing had razor thin pages and there were many thousands of pages, with mircoscopic type, in fact the whole deal was a podium, the half-ton of book and a magnifying lens so you could read the entries.

"And Quiet Flows the Don" by Mikhael Sholokov. It is a Russian epic, famous for its expanse. A wonderful read!

longest book i ever read was Gone with the Wind i suppose. i've seen some pretty big, old books that were bound in pigskin or vellum (you can still see the hair on it and it smells like bacon).
