I would take a RB first, like L. Tomllison, S. Alexander or L. Johnson then think about a QB

It's not so much who scores the most point really as the dropoff. Quarterbacks can score just as much or more than RB, BUT the dropoff from the top quarterback to the #10 QB is much less than from the top two Rb to say the Number 10 RB. Even in an eight team league a lot RB will be taken between your first and second round choice. I'd take Tomlinson or Johnson in that order first, another RB second then a solid QB like Brady third round.

You should probably go with LT, LJ, or Alexander based on who is left. Then I would take another rb or qb because since it is only an 8 team league you will get great players. The thing is that if you don't take a RB for your 1st round pick you have wait 14 more picks to grab a rb and there might not be anything left. Traditionally, you can get a qb in the later rounds and they will have a decent season. I would load up on rb's and wr's and then get a decent qb like hasselback in the midrounds.

I know that Peyton Manning is the best quarterback in the league, but I feel that it would be rather foolish to take him with your second pick.
If I was in your position, I would try to set my sights on Ladainian Tomlinson and Larry Johnson. Either one of these choices would be fine. I would try to avoid picking Shaun Alexander, though. Alexander is infected with the Madden Curse, and he has lost a great offensive tackle in Steve Hutchinson.
In Fantasy Football, running backs score the most points. It is crucial to obtain a nucleus of solid backs. In your position, you have the opportunity to take at least one really great back and you should.
I know that Manning is the best quarterback in football, but there are some other solid choices, too. Tom Brady, Carson Palmer and Eli Manning would be great quarterbacks to set your sights on also. Brady would be counted on to throw at least 25 touchdowns as would Palmer and expect Peyton's younger brother to have a great season, too as he is surrounded by Barber and Shockey.
The choice is clear...
If you want to win, you must take either LJ or LT because you have to have at least one solid running back. The loss of a Peyton Manning can be made up with the addition of a Tom Brady, Carson Palmer or Eli Manning.
Hope that helps.

Sorry - I did a big explanation of what you should do and why - and then read that this is an 8 team league.
PEOPLE IN 8-TEAM FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUES - PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:
Your league is lame - do not ask strategy questions here. Everyone's team is going to look awesome.
Join a 12 team league which should be the standard. There is no strategy in an 8-team league.
You should still take a RB at #2 though.

Since you have only 8 teams in your league, and I'm guessing it's a non-keeper league, my choice would be Larry Johnson. LT is going to have the opposing defense and their coaching staff on the line to stop him and Alexander has that curse called the Madden curse, so LJ is the right choice at no.2

I too have the second pick and I will tell you- we are obligated to take whoever the #1 does not. If they take Shaun Alexander, we take LJ- and vice versa. I am also contemplating taking LT at 2, but you can decide that.

LT or LJ. QB is not a high scoring fantasy position like RB is. If LT is there take him, if not take LJ.
