Want to locate latest data on the percentage of US citizens making min wage; ages and ethnic groups. Do they continue at min wage or do they get small raises after 3 to 6 months. If they stay for a year or more, what is their wage compared to the min?

The article cited below shows a little less than 3% of wage earners at the current minimum wage. This would include students just breaking into the work force, but also includes adults. Haven't found the demographic info on minimum wage earners, or how many are new workers vs. having been on the job for awhile.

Remember though that many states have a higher minimum wage than the current federal $5.15 per hour.

And all bets are off if you tried to count in the people paid under the table. Since those numbers aren't known, can't be included in statistics, but wouldn't be affected by an increase in minimum wage at either federal or state level.
