Kensington park is a lot of fun and free. The Hands On Museum in Ann Arbor is also a lot of fun and pretty inexpensive.

The kids might enjoy a trip to Kellogg's Cereal City USA in Battle Creek, Michigan. I went there on a field trip with my youth group when I was younger--it didn't cost much money and we all had a blast! The link below will take you to Cereal City's website, where you can get more information about the cereal factory:

There is a place in Coloma, MI called Deer Forest. They have all sorts of animals there, and kids a welcomed to feed several of them by hand. The deer are so used to humans they will often walk right up expecting food. Little kids are sometimes scared, and thats just natural, but 6 to 10 year olds usually get a kick out of it. It's also set up in a stroy book/fairy tail mode(I.E. the Three Little Pigs you can pet and feed pigs). I loved it when I was little and even enjoyed it as an adult.

Michigan's Adventure amusement park in Muskegon, Michigan is a nice little park. Two wooden roller coasters.... the Wolverine Wildcat (good overall) and Shivering Timbers (outstanding).
