Their definitions can be found in any good dictionary, but there is no substitute for seeing how they are used in mathematical problems. If you really are interested, I would go to my nearest school, even elementary or junior high and ask the math teacher after school is out for the day to actually show you on the blackboard. In a right-angled triangle, if we chose any angle other than the right-angle itself:-
Tan (Tangent) is the opposite side from angle divided by the adjacent side (not the longest side).
Sin (Sine) is the opposite side from angle divided by the hypotenuse (longest side).
Cos (Cosine) is the adjacent side divided by the hypotenuse.
