Maybe, but probably not. With the amount of international trouble right now, now is not the time for putting someone in office just so we can walk around with our noses in the air thinking what a fine bunch of people we are; so socially evolved, gender neutral, open minded....blah blah blah blah blah.
I'm not saying a woman couldn't be a good or even great president, but it's going to take an exceptional woman. And there's no woman that I can see in American politics that has what it takes. Come to think of it, there aren't that many men either. We're screwed.

There is no 'right time' for a female President. There is only a right time for the best person for the job. If that is a woman, then that is who you should vote for.

Give me a woman who doesn't want to raise taxes, doesn't believe in entitlements, and who won't try to have the government take over large sectors of our economy, and I'll vote for her in a heartbeat. I'd do the same for a man.

One thing I would find fascinating with a female President, though... with all of the abuse women suffer in the Middle East, it would be interesting to see how hard a line a female President would take on the subject, particularly with regards to the harsher impacts of sharia law.

Most people here, and this question itself, is referring to the USA if I am correct. Actually, throughout the world, there have been female heads of state (or "women Presidents" as is termed above) in many countries...Asia, Europe for example. The USA even though the most powerful and inspite of calling itself the home of the "free" is actually referring to "free men." Here in the good old US of A we are still extremely sexist and backward with regards to women and women's rights. Even Muslim countries are ahead of us. You will know that this situation has finally changed when such a question as this would seem as preposterous as asking if it is the right time for a President with brown hair or red hair or blue eyes or brown skin...yes or if male or female...all are very stupid and highly prejudiced. We need to learn to stop judging on the basis of superficiality including whether someone is a Hollywood cowboy, a rich frat boy, etc etc..all superficiality and are NOT qualifications for presidency. Lets get with it America ...Hollywood Movies and TV programs are not a basis for real life.

It is not time for a woman to be president.

It is not time for a black/asian/etc. to be president.

It is not time anybody but George Bush to be president.

Come noon EST, 1/20/2009, it will be the time for someone else to be president. I just hope that person will follow the constitution. The rest is meaningless.

I don't believe the presidency should be decided on whether you are a man, woman or any minority for that matter. It should depend on your qualifications and if you represent my values and you have an agenda that I like. I want the best qualified the job, I don't care what sex or racial background you are.

There's no reason why a women shouldn't be your president. In the UK we had a female PM, Thatcher, and she was one of the strongest PMs we've ever had. Probably the strongest since the war and Churchill's time.

But, you should vote based on who's best for the job, not sex.

No. Females aren't exactly the most "Logical" thinking creatures ever created. Instead, they prefer "feeling" and emotion to logic when it comes to making hard decisions. If everyone in the country was 2 years old, then it might work.
