A brass cleaning product called Brasso, some clean, soft, lint-free rags and some elbow grease will do the trick.

Walmart and Williams and Sonoma carry a cleaner called "Bar Keepers Friend". It's awesome stuff and I used it to clean my brass sconces. Makes them sparkle.

Brasso works everytime for me... you can also find a polish for brass cause I had some for my trumpet when I played...
