I heard of how Manchester United won it once but how does it work? Say for instance that Chelsea wins this year...what happens next? Do they play against other countries? Im sort of confused.

a treble is when a team wins three football tournament in a same football season. In ENGLAND, there are English Premier League, the FA Cup, the English Carling Cup & in Europe, teams all over Europe will compete in the UEFA Champions' League or the UEFA Cup (Europe's second cup competition).

Manchester United achieved that feat in 1999 when they won the Premier League crown, the FA Cup & UEFA Champions' League.

Liverpool also won a treble in 2001, when they won the English League Cup, the FA Cup & the UEFA Cup. they have also won the English Charity Sheild & European Super Cup in a same calendar year.

*European Super Cup is an annual cup competition which features the winners of the UEFA Champions' League & the UEFA Cup. it is usually held at Stade Louis II, Monaco, France in the final week of August.

You have to win the 2000 Guineas, The Epsom Derby and the St Leger to win the treble.

Mmmmmmmmm..........wait, that's the the Triple Crown!

A treble is not a fixed term in football. Winning all 3 domestic trophies (the League, League Cup and FA Cup) is possibly what is meant by a treble, in the true sense of the term. However, given the advent of European football, winning any 3 trophies (a combination of 2 domestic and 1 European), constitutes the Treble.

Liverpool were the first achieve this in 1984, winning the League, the League Cup and defeating Roma, in Rome, to win the European Cup.

The treble means you win the big three competitions, the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League, all in one season. Only in the Champions League do you play teams from other countries.

Man U is the only Premier LEague team to win the treble.
