Try this link: http://www.armed-guard.com/searchre.html
It looks like a good place to start. My Father was in the Army in WW2. And 1 uncle in the Airforce and 1 in the Navy. Good Luck!

If you are British go here
- http://www.veteransagency.mod.uk/service_records/service_records.html
Access to personal data held by the MOD may be sought for
many reasons, including:
* proof of Service in HM Armed Forces
* medical reasons
* family history or research

please check with your local naval office. try using their website if they have one. its not likely they might want to put such records on the internet. good luck though. how's your dad? 1922? seems so far away.

Martin,
You might contact the author of this web page;
http://members.cox.net/squadron35/
Very well informed it seems; and if they didn't know your dad they have probably looked up records for others before.
