A meteorite is what it is called once it falls to Earth.

A meteoroid is what it is called when it is still out in space.

A meteorite is a piece of space rock which has impacted with the Earth. A meteoroid is the same piece of rock, but it's still floating around in space.....it hasn't impacted yet.

It's called a meteoroid while it's still in space. After it hits the Earth, it's called a meteorite.

BOTH ARE SAME .. " METEROID" IS SINGULAR AND "METEORITE" IS PLURAL
