usually every county has a public database online where you can look up marraige license. the only thing is you must know exactly what county they were married in, and the correct spelling of that persons first and last name.

County records like may above said. Many larger counties now have it online. I do a search of any man I start chatting with from a dating site to see how they react when I tell them a bit of info they haven't told me yet. In the counties I have looked at, it may have the marriage recorded but not the divorce. The divorce would be in the actual county that happened in. This is a very time consuming process. If it is a matter of trust of a man...just run , very fast, if you just don't trust him. Period.

Check the courthouse of the county where the marriage took place.
Look at their ring finger, even if the ring has been removed there may be a tan line or indentation where the ring was and it may take up to three months for tan line/indentation to dissipate.
Or you could just ask.

If you are having questions about the guy being married or not, perhaps it is time to find a new relationship. If there is doubt and deception in the relationship already, end it now. You aren't getting off to a good start.

Depends on the country, in a Catholic country there will be a note in the church register which can be traced, otherwise the register of births, deaths and marriages.

what country are you in?
In the US, marriage/divorce records are public. You go to the clerk's office in the township where they were married or divorced and they can tell you.

Any of those, or you could just look on their left hand ring finger to see if they have a wedding band (both male or female) or a diamond (if they're a girl)
