Both are equal in they're appealing to their own audience.
Punk- relates to suburbanite raised teens who for some reason feel like "rebelling".
Rap- relates to ghetto, and project raised teens which used to stand for the struggles of the black community, but now has been overcome with cheap talk of guns, b*****s, and h**s.
