Evora Jordan's mysteries are very interesting, because she based these on things that really happened. Her lastest came out in May.
Tainted Town has murder, corruption and a ghost in a small town in New Hampshire.
She has 3 Murder Mysteries. The first one is Tainted Sand. This is based on a major case up in Maine... the body was never found.

If you want some reading that you don't have to take too seriously and you want some easy laughs, I recommend Piers Anthony--The Magic of Xanth trilogy. Bink lives in the land of Xanth, where all the inhabitants possess a magic power by the time they reach their 18th year. Only, Bink's magic has not shown itself, and he is on the verge of being exiled to Mundania, with all the boring normal people. He must forge through the magic forest to the Castle of the wizard... There are 18 or so books--the first three are all you really need. You will laugh, groan at the puns, get caught up in the adventure, and never really need to think--unless you want to.
If Xanth is not your thing, then how about a good Stephen King--maybe The Dark Half....
If you like a little romance, The Horse Whisperer by Nicolas Sparks is a good read... the movie sucked, but the book is fantastic.
However, my all time favorite book to read, over and over again, to rest, to relax, to contemplate, and just to LOVE is The Grapes of Wrath. If you have already read it, then you know its a keeper. If you haven't, give it a chance--after the first chapter, you will not want to put it down--promise!

Jonathan Livingston Seagull, by Richard Bach.
Pollyanna, by E. Porter
The Secret Garden and A Little Princess and Little Lord Fauntleroy by Frances Hodgson Burnett...
If you are looking for a relax book, don't, I repeat, _don't_ take up Lord of the Flies. That one is good when you want serious, emotionally loaded reading without a happy ending.

A good detective story. Try Agatha Christie or Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

I agree with some of the above, it depends on what type of book you like. I LOVE all of Johnathan Kellerman's books. I also love Tom Clancy and Faye Kellerman. I am a huge mystery nut.
I also love books that are true and informative. I have re-read Black Hawk Down several times.
My all time favorite though is To Kill a Mockingbird...........
