Having 5 years of working experience in Core Java. Minimum working knowledge in J2EE. Want to get certified both in Core Java as well as J2EE.

Well, SCJP 1.5 should be a breeze, with 5 years experience - I passed SCJP 1.2 with NONE. But probably the best idea is to figure out where you want to go from here & find the hardest/highest certification you can pass - don't bother with easy entry-level stuff, if your resume already shows you can do that.
Also, look at design rather than coding.

P.S. whatever you choose, choose certification by the product vendor. So for Java, go with Sun, with Websphere (for example), go with IBM, etc.
