It depends on the state as far as I know. I would contact a lawyer to be sure.

The law is different from state to state. I found out, through an experience of my own, that Rhode Island has entrapment laws, but Arizona does not. You say that it is legal in Indiana; therefore, I would think that if you were recording conversation with someone from Arizona, where there is no entrapment law, and there is no entrapment law in Indiana, then it is legal to tape a conversation without someone knowing about it. However, I would think that if you were recording conversations from someone in Rhode Island, where there is an entrapment law, and no entrapment law in Indiana, then it would be illegal to record conversations without letting ALL parties know in Rhode Island that it is happening.

I don't think it is legal-or it shouldn't be- anywhere here in the U.S.A. for anyone to record a persons conversation without their permission! In Fact I believe that even when the President of the United States does this-or approves such an idea he should be locked up until his term is over or be impeached right away!!!!!!! You asked and I answered!!!!!!

This is a state by state question. Call and talk to a lawyer in the yellowpages that does free consultations. In the state of Ks.. as long as one party knows it's ok.. in the state of OK.. both parties have to know.. so call a lawyer... either way.. you can always record something..but it just might not be usable in court if it's a state where both parties have to know..

Well in our state, its illegal to tape a conversation without at least one of the party knowing it, for instance, if I taped a conversation we were having and i was part of that conversation and you didn't know about it , i could get away with it, but i was part of the conversation, but if you are taping someone else like 2 other ppl and neither one of them knew about it, yes its illegal, invading of privacy..................

It is legal, but will not hold up in court unless you inform the person at the beginning that the conversation is being recorded. Here is a site that will explain it better; http://www.pimall.com/nais/n.tel.tape.law.html ·
