A dream is a construct of our own perception actuated by experiences we recieve and partake within. They are fundamental and controllable depending on what we see and how we perceive those images.

A vision, however is quite a different aspect of perception, because[unlike a premonition] it is not our thought. It is a reception of a forsight or insight of the future or of change. We view these in a metaphysical sense and can view these at any moment within our lives depending upon our state of mind and perception of the message.

Dreams are when I sleep, but visions happen between the space of the here and now..
Visions are something we never forget, and they somehow touch our hearts and soul.. Visions are to be kept kind to your heart - secret - unless there is an Elder you can share with, who will help you walk the way of your vision.
Dreams can torment, or give pleasure.. Visions give one wisdom, and understanding. A vision touches the very essence of who you are..

There's 2 ways to read/answer your question. 1) A vision is something we can imagine, can purposely visualise it, & it seems like it could happen, & a dream is something we hope for but the chances are it's less likely to happen. 2) A vision is something which involentarily comes to someone when they are in a waking state, a prediction of sorts about the future which they *see* as if on a tv screen in their head & a dream, when your asleep & you dream (some people think dreams often = predtictions but I don't beleive it is the case). When I read your question for the first time I thought you meant the second option but I realised it probably wasn't so I wrote both!

Definitively a dream and a vision can both be prophetic so they are the same in that respect. Practically, dreams are common while true visions are rare.

1. Dreams emanate from our sub-conscious mind.
2. Visions emanate from our conscious mind.
3. Dreams may come true sometimes.
4. Visions always come true.
5. Dreams are sometimes bad.
6. Visions are never bad. In fact you want to have the same vision again and again, they never reappear.

A vision to me could be like an epithany or maybe something that came to you while you were contemplating or day dreaming about some paticular idea. A dream happens when you are sleeping, could be something triggered that dream by your everyday life.
