Yes, it is a little scary. Perhaps we should substitute "Bob" for God. "In Bob we trust" or "Bob bless America" sounds pretty much like the original, so we'd quickly adopt the new format. Then when something goes wrong we could "Oh my Bob!" "What a Bob-damned shame!"

First of all, I am shocked you aren't aware of our history. America was founded by Christians. Our very foundation is Christian. We are known as a Christian nation. Our founding fathers wrote our most important documents based on Biblical teachings and beliefs. Our country has always been a haven for those seeking religious and political freedom. And what on earth do you mean our allegance to the flag looks like China? Being French, you may want to adopt some of our ideals and beliefs, I guarantee, you'll be better off for it.

There are things in France that are shocking to Americans too. It is just differences in culture. The God Bless America and In God we trust is part of our culture in that the majority of our laws and history is based on religious values. The pledge is to help teach patriotism. And thanks to our culture and such ways the US doesn't have uprisings and relvolutions very often like some other countries have become known.

Our country's origins is based upon the concept of God and God's laws. I think it is wonderful that our country uses God's name in it's songs and mottos. It's really too bad that you were shocked by this. I suggest that you go back to France and not return to the USA. Or possibly you should go to a muslim country where the name of Allah is used everywhere, if the use of God bothers you.

No it is not good, it is kind of silly, but it seems to make all the insecure christians in America feel better by having God slogans and symbols plastered all over our government buildings, documents, currency, slogans, etc... America is a secular nation. Religion should be kept personal and out of a nation's government!
sorry about your World Cup loss.

Yes I do. This country was founded on religious freedom. Many, if not all of our laws are based on Biblical truths. If that is a problem for anyone coming here from another country, why do you come here then? For those who don't believe in God, if you truly don't, then why make a fuss?

I think the more interesting question would be, "What is the harm in having those phrases everywhere"?
