Doctor who.
Crap special effects in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and you've got to give them credit for consistency, because the effects are still crap. Even in the newer series.

I saw that at the cinema when it was first released. I was absolutely blown away by the effects and practiced frisbee for weeks afterwards. Twenty years from now they'll be looking at current films and asking why there's no smell, 3D, real-time interactive features etc. 'Tis all relative.
