I was just wondering if there is an african country which now adopts or has adopted a parliamentary system and where the military, generally subordinate to the civilian rule, does not play an active role in politics. Thanks in advance for any comments and suggestions!

South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Botswana, Mocambique, Namibia, Angola. (All in Southern Africa) Botswana is possibly the most politically stable country in Africa.

Think of Botswana. Most famous for it's past beloved king Sir Seretse Khama; the gentle detective stories written by Alexander McCall Smith about Mma. Ramotswa and diamonds, it's difficult to imagine a more stable government.

I honestly don't think so because most of them were under European rule, and now I believe all of them are not, and I highly doubt that those countries peacefully rebelled.
