Well first off Gluttony is a sin as defined by the bible so do all fat people go to hell? And also shouldn't it be considered suicide if a person dies because of heart diesease when its related to thier diet? I mean if you eat yourself to death then you are killing yourself...the same thing with Ciggarettes...if you knowingly do something to kill yourself isnt it suicide....so aren't all these people going to hell?

I agree with the people who say that Suicide is like an instant death...yes eating yourself to death will kill you but its not like you do it to die.

If I was religiously inclined I'd go for a tolerant Jesus over those wife stoning loons in the old testament.
If a person gets fat because of their hormones do they go to hell?
If a person commits murder because they are mentally ill do they go to hell?
Does everyone who takes the lord's name in vain go to hell?
It was written by people of that time, for the people of that time. Life is very complicated and they tried to simplify and rationalise decent behaviour in a way that an illiterate population could absorb. Everything has always been open to interpretation or religion would not have fractured over the centuries e.g. celibate and non celibate priests.

yes gluttony is a sin but no they will not all go to hell because our sins were forgiven by Christ...sooo.... anyways.....if you eat and can't stop that is called addiction...it is a sin to keep doing something that is hurting your body but I don't think people eat and eat with suicide as their goal...they just really like food and don't know how to stop....that's what addiction is....if they do die...it won't be counted against them because they did not have a true desire to kill themselves....the ones that do want to die will probably go to hell on the other hand....just telling you what I think....but I can't tell you how God will judge people....

No! Suicide is knowingly, intentionally and deliberately taking you own life. What you are talking about is not the same thing. People do not eat to intentionally kill themselves. People eat to stay alive. People smoke because they are addicted to nicotine, not to intentionally kill themselves. Death is the final consequence of everything we do.

Martyrdom isn't suicide. St. Thomas greater did no longer want to die, yet he favored dying on the palms of King Henry VIII to heresy . in case you opt to comprehend martyrdom watch the action picture "a guy For All Seasons". A martyr is somebody who provides up their life with a view to proceed to be genuine to their God, no longer through fact they want to die.

I do think that eating yourself into obesity is suicide. I know someone who sits home and ate himself up to 585 lbs. He is now on disability for his weight. He just bought a boat. I go to work everyday to pay for his twinkies. It's a slow suicide. He knows he will die, but it doesn't stop him.

What you are saying is correct.....but the theory is bunk.

I don't believe in a true biblical Hell....I lean more towards an individual Hell, created by the person responsible for their own behavior.....

Just my opinion

i dont think that eating or smoking yourself to bad health is suicide...when someone decides to commit suicide...they are saying that they want to die NOW...not 20 yrs later when they get lung cancer or heart disease...you can't compare the two...
