I currently live in far Southwestern, high-desert Wyoming. I'll probably live here the rest of my life. It has great advantages: A1) Clean, clear air, few lights at night (so astronomical viewing is wonderful). A2) Almost zero traffic, and really cheap petrol prices. A3) An "energy industry" boom without the associated pollution. Etc. It has drawbacks, too: D1) Super-boring, few cultural attractions (although we host the _free_ Oyster-Ridge Bluegrass Festival this weekend). D2) 50 miles to the nearest real supermarket, and 2 1/2 hours to the nearest large urban area (Salt Lake City). D3) Horizontal snow in the wintertime, which extends from mid-September through mid-May. Etc.

I've lived in many places; here are some where I've spent two or more years: Born and raised in West (By God) Virginia. Virginia. New Jersey. NYC. Massachusetts. New Hampshire. People's Republic of China. North Carolina. Fiji. Colorado. Among others!

Of course, every place has advantages and disadvantages. So sample as many as you can in your life!

NYC - Manhattan. Yes, I love living here. And hope you enjoy New Jersey. I hear parts of it aren't that great, just like most states, and that other parts are incredible. In fact, it had 5 cities on a study of the top 100 cities for quality of life in the United States. Sure beats living in some boring dust riden red state like Ohio.

I live in southern Georgia, in the heart of the bible belt (I'm a Pagan). Truthfully I am not satisfied, I like the country atmosphere but not the negative one religion attitude that dominates the whole area. I would rather live near Brunswick or Savannah or Jacksonville. More oppurtunities for education, jobs, and spiritual fellowship.

Upstate New York. It's really beautiful here, but the winters leave much to be desired. I've been here my whole life, but I think I would like to head south, but not too far south (MD, VA, NC) after I retire. The snow is just too much.
