I dispute the 'I buried Paul' statement.

What had been claimed by most journalists was the fact that Paul was just plain different on the cover of 'Abbey Road'. He held his cigarette in his right hand whereas everyone knew he was a southpaw. I know, big deal. But then they claim that John walking ahead of everyone in white was supposedly the priest, Ringo the undertaker in black, and George the gravedigger in work clothes. Paul, allegedly dead, walked barefoot, an ancient sign for death. He also walked on the black stripes (so they say) whereas other walked on the white.

According to Paul himself the 'I buried Paul' rap at the end of 'Strawberry Fields' was merely John saying 'Cranberry sauce'. Odd indeed, but that was John's humor for you.

The most common belief was that McCartney, while working on the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album, stormed out of a recording session and rode off in his Austin-Healey.

"He didn't notice that the lights had changed" ("A Day in the Life") because he was busy watching the pretty girl on the sidewalk ("Lovely Rita") after narrowly missing her dressed in blue (she's the blur on the back of Abbey Road) jaywalking ("Blue Jay Way").

He then crashed into a light pole (a car crash sound is heard in "Revolution 9") and, dying from massive head injuries, burned to death (having "lost (his) head" according to "Don't Pass Me By").

He was pronounced dead on a "Wednesday morning at 5 o'clock as the day begins" (the day and time mentioned in "She's Leaving Home"). A funeral procession was held days later (as implied in the Abbey Road album cover), with John presiding over the service. After gravedigger George buries the body, John was known to have proclaimed "I buried Paul" (as implied in "Strawberry Fields Forever").

I was 14 in 1966 and remember that! Playing the song backwards ( I am a Walrus or Number 9 can't remember which) you could, if you listened hard hear a car crash, and then here “Paul is dead” several times.

What actually started out has a play the record back wards with the Beatles, do the same with another band such as the monkees and you will here the same but in different words or phrases the reason for this is some of the words in English played back wards will come out in another word or phrase.

Strawberry Fields on the fade out at the very, very end you can hear John say "I buried Paul", you have to turn it up fairly loud to hear it,,, an John was refering to that John was way loud in the mix,,,or so the story goes,, hence buring Paul
