for the past 100,000+ years we have been animals. in the past 50-100 we have come inside to start working in factories and offices.
i think happiness is found by satisfying our primitive-preprogrammed instincts, feelings, desires, etc. because that is who we are, those things are in the very genetic make-up that make us who we are. not bigger appliances.
i think in our modern world we have completely forgotten where we came from or who we are. and no wonder no ones happy. we have replaced our primitve internal needs with the telivision. we are denying ourselves of the most basic and deep rooted part of ourselves. sunshine, companionship, physical activity, sex, adrenaline, etc.
i like this philosophy. what do you think?

OMG Finally someone sees the light. we all need to slow down and enjoy LIFE not what we can get or use LIFE. Get out enjoy a walk with your kids, stop and smell the flowers or eat some fruit right off a tree. Everybody needs to remember that God put us here to take care of the planet not destroy it and everything on it. Which is what is happening with all our technology. Do we really need all this stuff???? I was very happy growing up and I didn't have a computer or an ipod. We were a much happier people back in the early days I am thinking. Yes it makes life easier and more exciting but I think we could live without all of this stuff. I know it will never go away but at least people should take one day a week to regress

I completely agree. Honestly. In fact I feel this way very often...modern life is in some ways so uncomfortable and I think a lot of it stems from the fact that we try to hide that side of ourselves. I don't know why; I think it is pretty silly to try to shame and silence basic human nature. If we recognized these things and made satisfying them more acceptable and less taboo, perhaps there would be less sickness and perversion and violence loose in the world? I sometimes wonder if a lot of these things happen when people do not find acceptable ways of releasing their basic human urges.

It's OK if you want to be an animal. Just don't expect the rest of us to agree with you on that. I for one believe what the bible says about mankind. He made a distinct difference between man and animal. He said" let us make man in our own image.......
This makes me think that God was intelligent enough to make us as PEOPLE. He also said "....and he shall have dominion over all the beasts of the earth and every living thing. So to me that blows your theory.
Sheeeeesh! Go and get a life!

Ofcourse you are not an animal. If you were you should have been in the zoo. To be an animal is to be law less. If there is no law then, you are like one of the ditinct race.
what I understand from your question is that you lack a human culture. Human culture is growing, and the current culture seems making man mechanstic and individuallistic rather than social. please be social for yourself and hence you will have a human culture.
if you live with macines, then you are no more human, but if you alocate more time with people yoou will be social

Yes, agree if we acept we are animals we would be careful about not wearing out or natural resources or harming the environment.
In fact we should all live in the jungle, like in the Jungle Book Movie.
You have just inspired me to make a question.
Ciao

I do not agree because God gave us the gift of reasoning, and dominion over the animals, We are supposed to care for the animals of this planet, how can we do that if we are acting like them? We can enjoy all the things on your list without becoming like animals.

Unlike animals, we humans have a soul. Another obvious difference is that there's a natural inclination to look to a higher power - something animals have never possessed.

I have my own answer as to why I do what I do. I am not my body, so to speak. As for happiness, I believe I am. It's up to each individual to determine what they believe happiness is.
