He is not hear stoping the wars because this all has to happen it has been told since the beginning of time and therefore has to take place. If you read in 1Thessalonians chapeter 5 it speaks of times. America leaders open the last stage by talking about how much peace we would have if we caught Bin Laden and all the other evils out their that was the beginning of the end. America for so long as thought of themselves as a great POWER and now just about the whole world hates America. America can never go back and undo what it has done. Isreal is spoken of in the bible and they are Gods chosen people, but because of their disobendience they have to suffer judgement, but God will come to their rescure this is the battle of Armageddon (Revelation chapter 16) the battle will conclude when Christ returns to destroy the wicked. So you see all this has to happen it has been prophesies since the beginning of time. The world has to reap judgement for SIN you can say all day why this, why that who knows. Why is the middle east full of death and battle and America has been spared for so long. But believe me America will not be safe either the world is soon to become a battle ground. I erge you to be ready cause if we don't see the Lord coming in our day you still have to die and where you end up when you die all depends of what you do with the life he gives us. YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN baptize in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost and live a sacrifical life according to Acts 2:38.
He will come and stop the wars but in his timing not ours he has and will be in control.
Forgive me if the answer was to long! Hope this helps you

This is not the end of the world. This is our mess, just like all the other wars. And war is a test to your humanity, compassion, faith, and strength. Without suffering there is no compassion, without suffering there is no strength. A god, in any form of religion that believes in one, is a spiritual guide, not a physical being. We are taught to believe that we are vessels for whatever the message a god teaches, therefore, we must clean up our own spills.

Of all the many excellent reasons to question the existence of an omnipotent Creator, this is one of the worst.

You can't possibly expect an all-powerful cosmic being to perceive good and evil the way we do. Where you see "a mess," God may well see the beauty of a world placed in the hands of self-aware, self-directing beings (that's us). God, if He exists, is looking at a bigger picture.

It's like asking, "Where was Buddha when the Red Sox lost last weekend?"

That's a very good question, and people (including me) have been asking it for a long time. The best answer I've heard is that God doesn't force us to love him or obey him, but instead gives us free will. Unfortunately, that means people have to suffer the consequences of not only their own hurtful actions, but also the hurtful actions of others. So, for example, innocent civilians get hurt and killed in wars. As for why God doesn't show up right now, I think his concept of time is different from ours. I've got to admit these answers don't satisfy me completely, but they're the best I've heard.

I believe the parents/kids analogy to a point. But suppose I have five kids, and they are arguing and fighting over a toy. I let it go on as long as no one gets seriously hurt. If one child picks up a knife and goes after the others, as a responsible parent, I am compelled to step in. Certainly if one child is killed I will step in and stop the hostilities; I won't just cry for that child and let them keep going. Does this impy that serious damage or death will need to occur to an entire faction (Christians/Muslims/etc.) before God steps in, or is the parent/child analogy really just a bad one?

God works in mysterious ways, does She not?
It's all Karma, baby. We've been fighting over God forever, as if it is a child's plaything, being tugged between one child and another.
Those being killed now, in the name of God, have killed in the name of God before (previous lifetimes) and now must reap what has been sown.
I do wish Humans could stop warring, killing in the name of God, but this is what must come to pass. God,dess, in all Her infinite wisdom, and also the souls entangled in the mess, have already made these plans long before incarnation. Christians and Muslims have a long-standing hatred for one another. Will it end? I think that is up to the ones who are more enlightened than the rest. So readers, pray for peace, for all God,dess' creatures, most especially our fellow Humans. We must cause the effect we desire, not "the old man in the Sky," coming to mete out justice at random. We must see to these problems. We have created these problems. Hatred begets more hatred. So LOVE, no matter whether or not you agreee with said person that may just need your smile at that very moment.
God,dess hasn't shown up, because this is our mess to clean up, and any good mother will make her children clean up their own messes, once they are aware enough of how to do it. We are not 4 years old anymore. We are the teenagers with disgusting bedrooms, Mom yelling at us to clean it up..... So will you do it, and keep it clean, or will you resent Her for not cleaning it up for you?
Hope to have helped you. Blessed Be.

You know the answer to this I'm sure...because God gave us free will, he doesn't choose how things turn out on this planet, he's just watching and waiting I guess. He must be damn strong willed not to reach down and swat some people halfway across the planet if you ask me though.

But you had already ruled out my first answer that came to me-in our hearts and minds so that we can find ways to stop the violence and have peace if we only chose. The problem is I suppose that not everyone makes choices based on goodness and caring, but only on greed and power and hostility. Sigh.

Read Revelation - the wars are going to get a lot worse before He returns. Why - I don't have all the answers and neither does anybody else. There is a Master plan and we have to trust by faith that all things happen for a reason.

Same reason he doesn't stop child abuse.
Same reason he doesn't stop famine.
Same reason he kills thousands with a tsunami.

The reason of 'we don't understand God's ways' is wearing very thin. C'mon, Christians. Answer this question.

Oh, and how would he stop the war? Islam is calling it a Holy War. Would God favor them, since they are fighting for His glory?

Israel and Lebanon is a war about religion as well. More blood has been spilt in the NAME of God than for any other reason in history.

Maybe God likes death, eh?

Why do you expect Him to?
Why do people start them?
Why do they start wars in the name of God?
Who knows why He doesn't show up?
Why should He have to? He didn't start it.

Stop blaming everything on God when you should be asking why don't the leaders of the world stop the war.
It would be much more direct and useful.
