The US is not a democracy, if you really want to be technical about it. The term democracy is thrown around losely, as so many, like "freedom", "values", etc.

Democracy, according to one of many definitions, means that the government is elected by the people. The structure of the Israeli government (parliamentary system) has nothing to do with their decision to award citizenship on the basis of their religion.

If you're really looking for something that, in my opinion, isn't right, then it's the fact that if you are jewish and thus entitled to Israeli citizenship and you commit a crime in the US, you can ask to be extradited to israel and be tried there for that crime. Israel reserves the right to have Jews tried only by other Jews because the presumption is that in no other country will they be treated / judged fairly. That, I think is wrong and makes a mockery of the US judicial system and the US should have never conceded to this arrangement, esp. if the victim is a US citizen.

The question is a non-sequitur. There is no requirement to be Jewish to be an Israeli citizen. The distinction is that Jews can claim citizenship automatically, others have to go through a more rigorous process. There are plenty of non-Jewish Israeli citizens.

Because they allow all their citizens the right to vote whether they're Muslims, Christians or Jewish. They even have openly pro-Arab legislators voted into office by the country's Israeli Arabs. This makes them light years ahead of the totalitarian dictatorships that they share the Middle East with.

Israel is, was and never will be a democracy. They follow this 'line of thought' because it is convenient for them. A non-jew will NEVER be the leader of Israel. They are a disgrace to humanity.
