sorry just want to know i'd seen this huge dragon fly in my garden today i was playing with my cat when suddenly a big dragon fly past him he was trying to catch>
it was about an estimating 8cm or smaller it was yellow and black in srtipes and had a head with a long body its wing were also big it looks like the wings are going in circles.
i think it was a dragon fly but had the wasps and bees colour
for the moment i thought it was a big wasp but had the body of a dragon fly

You will find that this a wood wasp.
They look like big dragonflies but wasp coloured.
The females have a long thin curled tongue.
They are actually quite common.

You were very lucky, it wasn't a wood wasp, it was
cordulegaster boltoni
Its an unmistakeable dragonfly, between 7.5 - 8.5cm and its very rare. Your description fits perfectly.
