Can some one tell me, what is the latest Pentium CPU?

I know there are the Pentium 4 2.4GHz, 2.66GHz, LGA475 and 3.0GHz LGA775.

But what is the latest Pentium now and what is its LGA? Is it still using LGA 775?

The name Pentium is obsolete in new CPU-models.

Core 2 Duo is the latest consumer Intel-CPU.

More specifically, i think it's:
Core 2 Extreme X6900 - 3.20 GHz (4 MiB L2, 1066 MHz FSB). Yes, it's still using LGA775.

LGA stands for Land Grid Array, which means that the pins are on the motherboard, not the processor.

Intel Core 2 Extreme Processor

Processor: X6800 Memory Cache: 4 MBL2
Clock Speed: 2.93 GHZ Front Side Bus:1066 MHz

Why, Intel? AMD is a far better product

Intel has stopped making Pentiums. Starting last July 27, "Core 2" will replace the Pentiums, and will have lower clock speeds but better performance. Pentium 4 had high clock speeds but generated too much heat. And even with the high clock speeds, performance was comparable to other processors with lower clock speeds.

The latest processor from Intel is a Core2 Duo, the Pentium line is being phased out as we speak. The fastest Core2 Duo Processor is the Core2 Duo Extreme X6800 at 2.93GHz per core, it's also the most expensive Core2 Processor at $1,149, http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=2399& and it is a socket 775 but your motherboard had better support a dual core processor before you even attempt to install it.

The Core2 E6600 is probably the best value at $360, http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2280512&CatId=2396 I won't spend more than $400 on a processor.
