I have to follow the crowd and say the Taj Mahal. I was actually lucky enough to visit it last summer. Indeed, it does simply take your breath away. The absolute symmetry of the building. No matter which of the four sides you stand on, it looks identical. to see the marble with the jade and stone inlay. Tiny tiny pieces that were carved and placed there by hand. You are just in awe when you realize man did this with his own hands. The fact that they constructed this magnificent structure without the technology we have today. The many years it took while Shah Jahan mourned over his wife's death. He had promised Mumtaz Mahal that he would build a monument to their love, and therefore he spent over two decades as much of the money in the treasury to build this tribute to his wife.

Later in life he fell ill and his son had him imprisoned and took over as ruler. Shah Jahan had a window where he looked out and stared at the Taj Mahal daily.

While there I also learned that Shah Jahan had intended to have an identical "black" Taj built across the river. In fact.....you can see where the foundation was layed for the project. His intention was to then build a silver bridge that spanned from the white Taj to the black Taj where he was to be buried. The bridge symbolizing how their love would always be connected.

It is a beautiful story. With such love and dedication......no wonder it turned out to be such a lovely monument as well!

that's a tough one...seems to me that everything that comes to mind is in fact a replica of something that is a product of the divine,or nature [whatever you believe]...even if the product is embellished upon it is still in fact a facet of the natural world...
for instance, the wheel was discovered by a log rolling down a hill,or something of that nature...in turn that wheel became the clocks and then the computers we all rely on now...our ability's our knowledge our very inspiration is a direct link to the divine- the natural-or the supernatural...[ whatever you believe ]
sorry about the dialog but this is a hard question that cant be taken lightly...i guess id say architecture as a whole is the most beautiful man made thing.

Clothing! That is something that without it, life would be tragic. It is such a beautiful thing when you can put on clothing to cover up some of those "visible body imperfections".

There are some odd shapes and sizes out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ten points to you for that deep question...as far as man is concerned it must be the computer and the internet since bill gates is a gazillioner...but truly i believe is the airplane it helped us connect to the world and each other in person , which is more important than the net.

nothing. in order for a man made object to be displayed....something of natures creation must be destroyed, and i don't fancy that much at all.
