It would be to affix over the plywood as it's shaped well, just wearing out fast. Also, I heard of 'rampskin" is it the same as Masonite - anyone know the best material to use for the top & any tips? Thx.

masonite will wear out and i would think that the water damage from the rain would cause rot very quick......i built a ramp like this for one of my nephews and the trick was to seal the plywood with a good exterior oil based sealer and to keep the ramp out of the sun area if u can.......

we bought a large tarp, 50 x 60 and he would cover the ramp hen not in use......it lasted about 8 yrs..

plywood is ur best bet and lowest cost.....

If this ramp is outdoor, masonite would be horrible. When it gets wet it basically crumbles. There are several new composite materials out there for ramps, one of the first of which was SkateLite. Rampskin is probably a similar product. Unfortunately, these are usually pretty expensive.

Your best bet would probably be to re-surface with plywood, then keep covered with a tarp or other waterproof material,

Good luck!

Any surface will wear, and degenerate, TEMPERED masonite in 4 x 10 sheets, sealed well after application, will certainly be better than just plywood, even exterior ply.

It's too bad concrete backer board isn't more flexible, that would last considerabely longer.
