Felling the baby kicking down towards your pelvis and feeling a hard lump bashing your ribs.

My first child was breech. I was 8 months pregnant at the time i found out. I was at work and had aching pains thru my stomach and my back...thought it was labor pains at first, since it was my first child. Went home, took some Tylenol, laid down. I couldn't stand the ache. My husband took me to the emergency room. When they did the ultrasound...that's when they found out the baby was breech. But, they told me the baby can turn clear up until you actually have the baby. Unfortunately, my baby couldn't, i had a cyst at the time too that prevented her from turning. Had to have a c-section. My daughter and i did great! Good luck!

You can try to check your baby's position a few different ways.

First off, note where your caregiver hears the heartbeat at your appointments.

Next, note where you feel kicks and punches and hiccups. The hiccups will be where the head is at, obviously. Kicks and punches will help you locate arms and legs. You may also be able to see "pointy parts" like elbows or knees or feet pushing out of your belly when baby is active. These things will help you start to figure out how baby is oriented.

Then, if you press with your hands into your belly, feel around for any hard, round parts on baby. The butt and the head will be the two hard, round shapes you find. Push against them and see how they move. They move differently. If you press against the head, it will kind of bounce back. (Think how differently it would feel if you pressed against YOUR head vs. your butt.)

georgia is close to how it feels. my first child was breech, then in position, then breech, then in position. when you get closer to the actual labor, you will feel extremely uncomfortable, and it's not just the labor, it's the position the baby is in. i laid down on my bed, raised my feet all the way up, and leaned them against the wall. i stayed in that position until i no longer felt that terrible discomfort. he was born normally, 2 days later.
