im not gay, and never will be, but honestly, i don't see what the point is of outlawing it. in church, i would help preach the necessity of a good christian life, but i do not see why you could not be a good christian, and leave others alone. i mean, abortion and embryonic stem cell research are wrong, but i can tolarate gay inions. i mean, im not committing the sin, and when th elast trumpet sounds and all are judged, you only have to answer about your own life. please, would like good christian responses

Yes, why not, it's not for you to judge. can you tolerate an alcoholic, or liar,or adulterer. In the eyes of God, sin is sin is sin. We are to love the sinner , hate the sin. most of these people have no choice in the matter and the only way they can have any happiness in this world is to be what they are.

We as humans have a tendency to categorize sin. It is easy to condemn when it is not your sin weakness.

Many are offended that this is a sin. We all sin everyday.
When you passed a hungry man on the street and didn't give something, that was the sin of omission.

by all means have gay friends, I do. How else will they ever learn of Gods love. If asked give your opinion carefully. After all you must be truthful.

God doesn't hate them. some are blessed from the womb like John the baptist and some are cursed from the womb.

Let us pray about it.

"cantcu" & "funloving..." are right.

They brought up some good points. I still haven't found the part in the Bible were it says ANYTHING about God "Hating" ANYONE.

If Marriage is a union solely for the purpose of Procreation, which cannot be possible between 2 people of the same sex, then why is it still perfectly acceptable for 2 Heterosexual people to marry each other when one or both of them are incapable of producing children as well? Shouldn't they be considered a violation of the Sanctity of Marriage as well?

& don't try to play the whole "Nature vs. Choice" card either. If Homosexuality is a choice, then so is Heterosexuality. At what point in a person's life does he or she decide that he or she will follow the Heterosexual lifestyle?

You can't force someone to follow the Heterosexual lifestyle, & they can't force others to follow the Homosexual lifestyle. Sexuality is not a lifestyle, it is a fact of Nature.

A person cannot choose his or her Sex, nor can he or she choose his or her Sexual Orientation. It is all decided by Nature. You would not discriminate against someone for the color of thier hair or eyes, so why should thier Sexual Orientation be any different? One does not choose the color of thier hair or eyes, nor does he or she choose his or her Sexual Orientation.

Since when did following an unconventional, yet still none-the-less Natual Human Nature become a sin? If Homosexuality is not Natural, then why does it also exist in Wildlife between other animals as well?

I could go on forever, but this is all I have time for for now.

cantcu is incorrect. It's mentioned way more than once in the Bible. Anyway, on to your question.
I'm a Christian, and the way I look at it is this: I try to leave my religion out of politics as much as possible, except in cases such as abortion. That's where my morals come into play.
However, with same-sex marriages, I feel it would be best to compromise. If they want to make a lifetime commitment, I see no reason why they should be prevented. Just don't call it marriage.
And you're right, I'm not going to be judged for what other people do. If I'm right, and there is a God, and the Bible is true, I know where I'm going when I die. If I'm wrong, it costs me nothing.

Sounds like you are reasoning yourself into believing that.

Ask yourself, "What is a Christian?" Then ask yourself, "What is a good Christian?"

Probably you have defined Christian as one who follows Christ, or something like that.

Then a good Christian would be someone who tries to be like Christ. Would Christ tolerate gay marriages that make a mockery of the sacred institution of marriage? Christ Himself elevated that status of marriage from that of a contract between a man and the father of the bride to a Sacrament.

Marriage is for two people of the opposite sex for the purpose of (among other things like mutual support) procreation. The first commandment of God in the Old Testament was, "Be fruitful and multiply..."

I am not saying that we must be judgmental about gays, but Christians must not pretend that a gay life-style is okay. Don't hate the sinner but hate the sin.

Discern the Godly from the ungodly and witness without condemnation because that is God's job. A Christian's job is to witness and one cannot do so by pretending that something contrary to Creation (gay unions, abortion, homicide, genocide and so on) is okay.

All people have the potential to sin, it is the choices that we make that can lead to damnation.

An oversimplified example: A lustful man can give in to his urges and sin. He is just as lost as a gay who succumbs to his urges.

the fonz,

Homosexuality is named as a sin in the Bible. But, so is gossip, slander, boastfulness, greed and more. See the first chapter of the book Romans. There is no person in the world that is without sin. We all fall short of God's glory. So homosexuals are welcome into the church body like all others. God loves them and understands their situation as much as He understands and loves each heterosexual. If they are not Christians, I am not to judge them. If they have accepted Christ, I am to hold them accountable to the Lord and His word, in love.

I personally believe the church gets blamed for being homophobic way too much.

I have not read in the Bible where Jesus told anyone to persecute others. However, at the last trumpet when you are called to account for your life, you will be held accountable for any you led astray. If our actions toward those living in sin too tolerant, we are condoning their actions and by doing make it seem as though it is not sin. I would never persecute homosexuals, but I would not condone them either.

an analogous question would be "can i be a good ____ while minding my own business"

(you can put literally anything in the blank; if the noun chosen doesn't permit you to mind your own business, you might want to evaluate the noun's implications)

i don't understand ANY people (Christian or otherwise) who get all riled up over things that literally do not affect them (if someone else is gay, or whatever, it has absolutely nothing to do with you, no matter how far you try to stretch your imagination to achieved your pre-determined desired outcome)

i also don't understand anyone who believes in gods but then won't let gods handle all the final judgements ascribed to them. in other words, i don't understand humans who invoke "god" and then try to BE god with other human's personal lives. no deity needs an administrative assistant.

Edit - In the particular case of gay marriage, we need to look at what marriage is. Marriage is one thing in the various religions in the world, and another in the laws of governments. Any deities don't need human laws to back up the laws of gods, so man's laws need only exist to keep nosey people from meddling in your life. If you violate a god's law, that god can deal with you in the hereafter presumably.

In legal marriage, you set up some amount of discrimination and extra benefits with regard to financial matters in particular. So whether homosexuals violate your particular god's laws, while still on earth they naturally want to get the benefits of the government-caused discrimination system.

While here on earth, rights should belong to individuals, not nosey neighbors. Let two people, regardless of any further discriminatory metric, do whatever they want with each other, it's not harming you.

Consensual acts between others that don't involve physical harm to your or your property should be off limits to your whims, even if, god forbid, you simply don't like it. I don't like the color purple, but that doesn't give me a right to prevent others from using the color purple -- even if 70% of humans also don't like purple, and even if a small group of humans X number of millenia ago arbitrarily characterized purple as the evil color of existence, IN A BOOK. (Gods don't need paper, duh.)

And if it's violating a "higher" law, again, I cannot overemphasize, DEITIES can deal with that!!!!! Your help is NOT needed, by your own invented definitions of deities.

(By and large, deities, religions and the like are a self-serving ruse to justify meddling in the lives of others for any reason you conceive.)

Jesus tolerated all sinners, loved them and showed them the way to heaven. Your duty as a christian is not to judge people, but to show others how to live a good life by living a good life

definite of path there could properly be gay Christians and are. What do you mean devoid of having it annoying in our western society? gay have it annoying in the two western and eastern societies no count if or no longer they or the societies are Christian or no longer. You added the word "the type of ingredient" it quite is dehumanizing the two homosexuality and christianity unconsciously. Why did you no longer ask "Can there be gay Christians" instead of dehumanizing via putting in "the type of ingredient". You your self are unconsciously expressing disdain, or having been conditioned with homophobia. i could advise you look at some human rights situations and look at homophobia for what that's instead of attempting to link practice of it to a particular team. EDIT:Miguel that's no longer the Catholic thought. yet be at liberty to lie approximately some thing you don't be attentive to. Catholics surely have their thought in writing and no the place do we call their thoughts an abomination or choose them to act as we communicate as you place it. on a similar time as guy or woman idiots could that's no longer the stance of the Church.

It is possible to be a good christian and tolerate the homosexual unions of others, but it's NOT possible to be a good christian and have a homosexual union yourself.

The bible teaches us to be peaceful and not to judge others, and that includes homosexuals.
