When my son was born we were told it would be $300 but we DID NOT have it done. There is no sound medical reason for it. The American Academy of Pediatrics actually recommends AGAINST circumcision as a routine procedure.

FROM THE AAP STATEMENT linked below:

Existing scientific evidence demonstrates potential medical benefits of newborn male circumcision; however,
THESE DATA ARE NOT SUFFICIENT TO RECOMMEND ROUTINE NEONATAL CIRCUMCISION. In circumstances in which there are potential benefits and risks, yet the procedure is NOT ESSENTIAL to the child's current well-being, parents should determine what is in the best interest of the child. To make an INFORMED CHOICE, parents of all male infants should be given accurate and unbiased information and be provided the opportunity to discuss this decision. If a decision for circumcision is made, procedural analgesia should be provided.

Great query. People driven it within the twentieth/nineteenth century to scale back masturbation and lessen male sexual urges. It then grew to be medicalized as was once driven for Hygiene (even though that is BS and they didn't even recognize well micro organism). People that experience had this performed, adding medical professionals push it onto the following generations and check out to justify it. They declare it's not fundamental. But is like such a lot traditional ingredients of the frame, it's fundamental. The foreskin isn't just epidermis and does no longer simply preserve the glans(head). Circumcision is understood to ablate probably the most touchy ingredients of the male genitals. This surgical procedure takes away the predominant male pride zones with over 20000 first-rate contact and stretch nerve endings amputated. The foreskin has a number of ingredients adding the ridged band that's nice for ones pride (that's why nutters like Kellogg desired to cut em off, to curtail masturbation), Masturbation is fundamental for a mans bodily and intellectual well being. The ridged band instantly contacts the vagina for terribly nice pride throughout. The dynamics of intercourse and the specific mechanism of the penis are significantly converted by means of circumcision. The foreskin can regularly be slipped the entire means, or close to the entire means, again to the bottom of the penis, and in addition slipped ahead past the glans. This broad variety of movement is the mechanism during which the penis and the orgasmic triggers within the foreskin, frenulum, and glans are inspired The simplest contact organ owning as wealthy erogenous innervation because the foreskin is the clitoris. Circumcision deprives guy of two/3ds of the predominant erogenous zone made from the foreskin and the glans. This data is simplest popping out by way of the web. People didn't speak approximately pride of the person the youngster will turn out to be, and folks didn't witness the brutality of the surgical procedure. Finally folks are becoming it.

men are now speaking up against male genital mutilation, and even having reconstructive surgery to try to undo the damage.

other than Jewish and Muslim religious practice, routine circumcision of newborns is mainly a North American phenomena introduced about 150 yrs ago to try to (of all things!) curb masterbation ! in my husband's European family, no-one is circumcised! it isn't done there in his nation-of-origin except for religious reasons.

why not let your son decide when he is an adult if he wants to get his foreskin amputated? it is his body, after all.

one man who had it done when he was an adult describes sex as being "like watching black and white TV after having seen color TV" -- you lose a LOT of sensation with a missing foreskin.

Please check out the links below that discuss "the other side" of the routine circumcision issue.

Save your money. It's a primitive and totally unnecessary practice, and in a minority of cases can lead to disastrous results.
