Israel has rejected a call by the United Nations for a 72-hour ceasefire in its conflict against Hezbollah militants in south Lebanon.

The UN's Emergency Relief Coordinator Jan Egeland had asked for the temporary cessation in violence, to enable relief workers to evacuate elderly, young and wounded people from south Lebanon and to bring in emergency aid.

This morning, an Israeli Government spokesman, Avi Pazner said there was no need for a pause in military operations, because he said Israel had opened a humanitarian corridor to-and-from Lebanon.

Reports from Lebanon have said the Israeli military has destroyed a bridge in the eastern Bekaah Valley and attacked 37 areas across the country.

The Israeli military said it killed 26 members of Hezbollah in and around the town of Bint Jbail with at least six of its own troops injured.

Several Hezbollah rockets have been fired into Northern Israel.

This proves that Israel does not care for human life .It only cares for acquiring more land .Obviously because their relatives in Europe were victimized before world war ii ,they feel a powering drive to get revenge from their Arab neighbors.

It's interesting that Israel bears all of the blame anytime there's violence in the middle east. Israel is only in Lebanon right now because the Lebanese officials continued to just twiddle their thumbs when Israel asked them to do something about Hezbollah's kidnappings and rocket attacks. If the Lebanese government can't be responsible for what happens inside its own borders, then they can't cry when another nation, who's safety is being threatened, comes in to eliminate the problem. Israel is right in rejecting a cease-fire until they can effectively neutralize Hezbollah. Unless the Lebanese government is willing to get its act together, a cease-fire is going to accomplish nothing except give both sides a chance to build back up their weapons caches in anticipation of the next war.

The united nations and Israel have a sketchy relationship to begin with. Think about how many muslim nations there are in any given UN council in comparison to allies? Now that Hezbollah is getting their asses handed to them one of their controllers (Iran or Syria) is attempting to buy them a reprieve.

this is in basic terms a wager -- the Israelis in all risk understand, in basic terms as those persons that have brains and use them understand, that the european has surely no enforcement capability in the Gaza region. So what's to stop Hamas from using the ceasefire to herald extra weapons and practice extra suicide bombers (in case you haven't any longer heard, the volunteers are lining up in Iran) to apply against the Israelis? What can the european do? Diddly-over-squat. anybody is pointing their arms on the Israelis and asserting what undesirable people they're, yet they forget approximately how many cases the Arab/Muslim sects have attacked the Israelis for no different reason than the reality that they are Jews and their suitable objective is to wipe out each Jew in the worldwide. Why is it that ignorant individuals and Europeans do no longer desire to develop the nicely suited to stay (with out consistent worry of being shot at or blown up) to the Israelis? what's so incorrect approximately Israel protecting itself against fanatics who've wide-spread time and time lower back that human existence has no fee to them and no enemy of theirs is "harmless"? ok, so anybody is indignant with the aid of Israel's "eye for a watch" attitude, however the undemanding actuality is the Israelis be responsive to their enemies nicely sufficient to be responsive to that no quantity of negotiation with them will do any sturdy. it isn't the Israelis yet their Arab/Muslim enemies who've desperate "this is us or them." in the comparable way, the unconventional Muslim sects that have waged war and committed terrorist acts on the U.S. have the comparable attitude. you won't be in a position of reason with people like that. If I have been a Jew residing in Israel any my purely possibilities have been kill or be killed, then hand me a gun and element out the enemies that are attempting to kill me...

It's called war...been around for thousands of years. Object: to win so you and yours can live in peace. Results: lots of people die...even innocents. Peace will only come after victory (maybe), not after cease-fire because there is no winner.

As well they should. Israel needs to destroy and disarm Hezbollocks once and for all. They've been attacked daily for the last six years, and it has to stop.
