I recently moved to Elk Grove Village, IL and the area is very family oriented and residential. Plenty of schools, parks, and family type activity. I also love all the biking/walking trails, and the huge fitness facility.

However, I was told there is an incorporated and village area. What's the difference? I remember passing a section towards the airport that was very business/industrial like? Is that considered Elk Grove, IL or still Elk Grove Village, IL?

I dont think it makes any difference... A friend once shipped something, and the address was corrected by the post office to "Elk Grove Valley". Clearly there is no standard anymore.

PS. Busse woods is largely over-visited. We get more visitors per year than yellowstone! But its still a great place. The best part of Busse woods is biking Down suicide hill!

Elk Grove was the original townsite, Elk Grove Village was "tacked" onto it afterwards and over the years has become the main part...

I used to live in Palatine (north on 53 & 290)... not too far away from you!
I hope that area is still as nice as when I lived there!. You have that lovely forrest nearby!

I think the two are pretty much used interchangeably. I think the only differentiator would be "The headquarters of United Airlines are in unincorporated Elk Grove Township, Illinois which is a separate form of local government from Elk Grove Village." (source: Wikipedia)

There is a goodly chunk of EGV that is industrialized, over by O'Hare.
