Most animals can see color though it is limited. Cats and dogs don't see more than three or four colors. Same with horses. Lobsters and crabs are said to see only blue. Most reptiles and amphibians do see a wide range color. It is the same with most fruit eating mammals such as some apes, monkeys and of course, humans. A good rule to follow is that if the species eats fruit, it is more likely to see in color.

Birds have some of the best color sense. They may not be able to see the same range as humans, but where we see one color of green, they can see thousands. That's due to the colored rods in their eyes. They have fewer rods than humans, but the rods, because they're oil filled, let them see more color. Many species can also see ultraviolet, which lets them see if a food is ripe. Humans have to smell the same fruit to see if it is ripe.

Yes and no, we have animals that can see a better color spectrum than us. They just adapted that way. The same as smell. A wild Turkey for example can see a gold sighting devie on a shorgun up to 8 miles away they say. Some animals are adapted to see only certain colors to protect themselves from their environment, while some can't see at all and go only by smell alone, like most snakes. It just matters on the animal and special research is needed on each particular one.

Yes. Certain species of birds can distinguish among colors and hues, for their vision is said to be tetracrhomatic. Humans can distinguish among colors and we barely possess a tricrhomatic vision.

I don't believe that they are color blind. My dog can spot a tiny pink tablet from far away. That means he can see the pink color.
