How can I get the msg icon to appear on my tool bar to let me know of received email without signing in.?

why don't you open outlock and minimize to toolbar it will tell you if you have mail providing it is set to fetch your mail from your account
this is what i do 2 differant accounts

not sure but there is a terrific programme at www.eprompter.com which lets u check multiple email addresses and you can set it to check as often as u like and it flashes if you have emails .
its free takes seconds to install and works with hotmail and yahoo plus your default email
