I just ate something and I forgot to take prevacid? Should I wait a couple of hours or just go ahead and take it as soon as possible?

Go ahead and take the medication. Don't take more than the recommended dose because the medication could cause other health problems. The reason they want you to take it first because the medicine has to be digested before it can start to work. By the time you are finished eating the medicine will be in your blood stream doing its thing. Just a note-some people are required to take it before bed due to acid reflux disease.

I have to say I love Rachel Ray - 30 minute meals, $40 a day, Rachels Travels etc... she's a great cook, and I think she has a good personality, however I do NOT think that she is Oprah quality. Yeah she is a bit of a dork - laughing at her own jokes, and she almost seems detached... but plus side is, that she is consistent in the quality of her work... never great, but never bad

well I think it is fine to take it as soon as you remember it. you can take it before your next dosage, but make sure that it is still a long time before the next dosage. Don't take it anymore if it is almost time for the next dosage. Make sure that you will never take two dosage at the same time just to catch up with the missed dose for it will harm you. you can go and ask your doctor about the possible side effects of having an over dose. Yes, I have done that MANY times and it still works wonders. However, my doc said if I do that, I need to take 2, which I do. Also, if severe heart burn starts, Prevacid will stop it immediately. I have woken up during the night with it starting to boil up in the back of my throat. As soon as I jumped up ran in and took two, it stopped it. Prevacid has to be one of the best meds on the market.

Just take it ASAP. Waiting will just let the acid continue to build up. The whole reason to take it BEFORE is so that you keep the acid levels as low as possible while you are eating and continue to keep them low after eating, therefore preventing heartburn.
