my computer crashed and i had to restore system (Windows ME). Since then I cannot find the driver I need for my network card. My friend sold me the computer and she can't find the disk that came with the network card. I can't find the driver on the windows disks and i can't connect to the internet without the driver. Can someone please help me? PLEASE!!!! All I know about the modem is that it is listed as CONEXANT PCI ETHERNET 56K ITU V.90 PCI FAX/MODEM. I called the company who made the computer (EMACHINES) and they told me that I have to have the disk that came with the network card but I don't have the disk so what else can I do to recover the driver?

Okay... you need to search the internet for a suitable driver, download it and put it on a disk, from another computer connected to the internet and disk writing capability (cdrw/dvdrw).

To easy your search here is a link to a site with over 480 modem drivers. You can identify what type of modem you have by looking on the chipset of the modem to find : 1 - who made your modem, 2 - the chipset your using (You have CONEXANT), 3 - the type of the modem (you have ''56k ITU V.90'' on a PCI slot). If you cannot find out who made it , searh for a driver thats maching points 2 and 3 to all of the manufacturers.

Go to http://www.conexant.com/ You will find several modem drivers. If you're unsure which one to use then download several of them. Put them all in a directory or on a disc. When you go to install the modem drivers, point it to the disc or directory and let Windows choose the right driver. It will usually know which one is made for it and choose.
