Or history, or finding out others views and opinions?
Or maybe its just fun.
It is not every question that requires intimate knowledge of the asker's background.

Yes, there are no points for questions and it is pointless to ask questions as you have said. I now only realised it. But answering makes the point to the questioner or not, gives point to the answerer.
