I am a Toledoan, born and raised. I love it here and I'd love to know what people think, know or think they know about our fine city. First I'll debunk a couple of myths:
1. YES - There are black people here
2. YES - Its a metropolitan city with urban, suburban and rural parts
3. YES -We are a major city
4. NO - there aren't farms on every street corner. (except out hill)

What do you have to say about the TOL?
Residents and passers-through alike

Maybe I should explain...
My brothers play highschool hoops in texas once and the black team captain said that when he heard hoopers from Toledo were comin 2 play, he thought they were some white boys. He didn't know Toledo had blacks although its on 50 miles from Motown.

We do have farms in some of the more rural areas. I mean, it's the midwest. Where else are you gonna get your corn? Plus it's a beautiful site to behold cattle grazing in the middle of a field while traveling on SR2 or I-75.

Finally, Jamie Farr (Klinger from MASH) is from here. The Mudhens are a nice AAA team. Our stadium is the bomb. But there's more to Toledo than all this. Would you like to visit?

Born and raised in the Toledo area, but away for school right now.

I enjoy Toledo for the most part.
I think the zoo is one of the best in the Midwest along with the museum.
I also enjoy the music and arts scene with a great deal of variety.
I love Tony Paco's made famous by Jamie Farr on Mash.
I miss the Mudhens playing in Maumee, but the new stadium is great.
I wish the Erie Street Market could return to what it once was, have you been there lately? There is barely anything.
I enjoy visiting the numerous festivals during the summer including the Old West Festival, Strawberry Festival, Roche de Bouf, etc..
I participated in the fair and wish it would also return to it's former state. They continue to lose money every year.

Overall I think that there is a great deal of variety in both cultures and activities. I am glad I was raised there and will probably return after graduation.

Trust me the job search is work by itself! My advice to you is to perfect your resume and maybe submit it to a recruiter that will do the job searching for you. They will get you into interviews with big companies that otherwise may not be available on the job boards. The really good opportunities are usually not on monster or yahoo jobs. The other problem you were having about trying to see which jobs are legit is really a hard thing to do. In my opinion if it looks they are advertising to get you to come in for an interview then it is probably bull.
