I have a revolting smell in my bedroom I have had it airing for weeks with the windows open but still it persists. It's a very strong fusty smell, but there is absolutely no sign of damp anywhere. It seems to be coming from under the floorboards but I have lifted a couple and theres no sign of damp or anything untoward. Whats more it smells considerably worse at night??? I mean whats that all about? It's been like it for over a month and is getting worse.
It's been suggested that it might be a dead mouse/rat but I'm not sure what decomposing rodent smells like. Does anyone know if it smells similar to fusty? And how on earth can I get rid of it short of pulling up my entire floor.

Has anything been spilt? Maybe it hasnt been cleaned up properly? Look behind(and in) all furniture to see if its a manky piece of clothing or something? No-one would have played a trick on you would they? and hidden something smelly? I wouldnt have thought it was something dead as that would be different to fusty............i think? More likely something has been spilt (someone else possibly could have spilt something) and with the heat it has made it smell especially if the smell is near the floor???.

A good clean up and exposing the room to direct sunlight and re doing you bedroom is the best way to keep the smell away because you dont know where it acctually comes from. If it doesnt help, You can keep room freshner in your room and wait for sometime if the smell does not go away better shift your bed room and go for a compete re doing. Hope you sleep well after that. Good night

Buy some odour eating stuff and put it all over.
Or
Do you have backing soda? Try dropping a box under the floorboards. Also Charcoal is good to get rid of smells.
Otherwise call someone who specializes in cleaning or maybe even pest control.
Sorry ...Good Luck!

the chances are the smell is chanel perfume that has been worn by a tramp and sweated out and wiped up and squeezed back into a bottle that has been swilled out with the gas of 1 thousand pigs. Or it might be that you have a decomposing rodent up your nostrels, which i would suggest seeing a doctor about. Good luck with the smell thing.

An animal may have died under your house, call a professional to check it out, no way to get rid of the smell if it's that until the source is gone. Good Luck.

I remember reading something about a similar situation where the problem was (bizarrely) to do with the light fitting. I can't really recall what it was except loads of people wrote in to say 'thank god you solved my stink problem'! So maybe switch off the electic and check your fitting. It may explain why it is worse at night if the light is on.

I don't know what Fusty means, look in the box springs of your bed, flip it over- it may not be in the floor- could be in the wall-

Dead decomposing rats smell like very strong cauliflower or cabbage water.
